In Palm Springs, you can enjoy a unique in-flight experience without having to splurge on vacation tickets, deal with annoying TSA lines, or even board a plane. Just visit PS Air Bar, a truly one-of-a-kind airline themed speakeasy. I’m a huge fan of speakeasies, so during a quick weekend trip to the desert, I had to grab a drink at at PS Air Bar.
The bar was co-founded by Tom Beatty, who was a flight attendant for 34 years. His deep industry knowledge and career focused on providing great customer service helped him build an awesome space for guests. To get to the PS Air Bar, you have to venture to the back of the Bouschet wine shop, where you’ll see an “Arrivals” sign hung over a black door.
After passing through, you’re immediately transported to a total party plane! The spacious room glowed with a purple and blue hue, giving it a disco lounge vibe. The upbeat music from the 80s established a funky fun atmosphere, much different than your typical flights where everyone is trying to nap.
The coolest aspect about PS Air Bar is the on theme decor. The founders ventured to an airplane junkyard in the Mojave Desert to salvage formerly used seats and actual walls of defunct planes. This attention to detail makes you feel close to being on a real plane (but you don’t have to keep your seatbelt fastened while enjoying your drink!). There’s also a lot of other small touches like the fluffy clouds that hang above and the vintage luggage that line the walls. Even the staff is on theme. The bartenders are dressed as pilots and servers as flight attendants, and they hand you safety cards (aka menus) which list out cocktails, like the Mile High Club, Jet Lag, and Black Box.
The drinks themselves were solid, but not amazing like most traditional speakeasies, but PS Air Bar has much more personality. I went early in the evening for pre-dinner drinks, so it wasn’t crowded, but I heard it gets lively later in the nights, especially on Saturdays where there are “Naughty Stewardess”.
Overall, PS Air Bar is not like any other bar I’ve been to. It’s great to check out if you a fun and unique time out, and is a great place to bring a bunch of friends. If you’re looking for other recommendations, be sure to follow me on Instagram at @deeelizious
