Tucked away from busy Sunset Boulevard that runs through the heart of Silver Lake, Cafecito Organico is a serene oasis found in a low-key residential neighborhood. The quiet and tranquil coffee shop is the perfect place to relax with a nice cup of coffee or to get some work done. I’ve mentioned in my previous blogs on Coffee Connection and Alana’s Coffee Roasters that it’s been a challenge to find coffee shops with quiet outdoor spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. But with some research, I’ve been able to discover some hidden gems, even in the most busiest parts of LA.
Cafecito Organico actually started as a stand at the farmer’s market, but after growing in popularity it started to open physical locations. In addition to the Silver Lake location I visited, there’s also a shop in Atwater Village. On its website, the shop states that “coffee supports livelihoods and biodiversity”, which may explain its tranquil vibes.
The Silver Lake location offers up a very cozy, backyard feel. Their outdoor patio, which they deemed “Hoover Wilderness” because they’re located on Hoover Street, has many eclectic accents: rustic wooden tables, lots of lush green plants, cushioned benches and couches, mismatched metal chairs, and decorative string lights. The floors are covered in artificial grass and there are a few umbrellas providing guests with shade on sunny days. The entire patio makes me wants to just stretch out and relax.
Cafecito Organico puts a lot of thought before their coffee. They work directly with coffee producers in Central America who practice sustainable farming to get high quality beans. Cafecito Organico also micro-roasts its coffee beans to bring out the best aroma and flavors. They offer the usual beverages found at coffee shops along with baked good, pastries, sandwiches, and chips to snack on.
If you’re around Silver Lake, Cafecito Organico is the perfect place to be productive, as it is very quiet. When I visited, most people were working or taking time to themselves, so there was very little noise. They don’t even have any music playing in the background. It almost felt like an outdoor library. For laptops, there were plenty of wall outlets and free WiFi, which was pretty reliable.
I also had an exciting surprise on my visit. I’m a big fan of the show Terrace House (on Netflix), which is like the Japanese version of “The Real World”. However, it’s way less dramatic. One of my favorite cast members from the Terrace House: Aloha State season was Taishi Tamaki. My boyfriend and I finished watching the season earlir in the week and on my trip to Cafecito Organico, I actually ran into Taishi! I was so surprised. Taishi was getting some work done, but he was very nice and was willing to take a picture with me.
