The Outdoors Coffee recently opened in West Hollywood, bringing a new destination to enjoy a cup of coffee to the trendy neighborhood. Like its name states The Outdoors Coffee has a large, yet cozy, 4,000 square foot open air space. The cafe shares this space with La Boheme, a New American restaurant next door .
I stumbled across the cafe when I was looking for a place to get some work done in WeHo. When I first walked in, Gilles, the owner of The Outdoors Coffee, happily greeted me. He walked me through the cafe’s menu providing a great breakdown of the food and speciality drink options. The shop proudly serves organic, fair trade tea and coffee. But the main highlight was a variety of croissant sandwiches or “crowiches”.
I decided on the T.O.C. Croissant – a crowich filled with romaine lettuce, chicken filet, deviled eggs, tarragon, light mayo, and micro line herbs. The croissant itself was very buttery and flakey and the ingredients inside were very flavorful. Giles mentioned that they get a fresh batch every day. The cafe’s website does claim “the best croissant in the purest Parisian tradition”. If you’re a big croissant fan, you definitely need to give these crowiches a taste.
Gilles was very friendly and took time to chat with every customer that visited the cafe. I always appreciate it when an owner takes their time to do this because it shows that they really care about their guests. I could tell that Giles wants to create a very tight knit neighborhood feel by making everyone feel welcomed.
The cafe possesses a Parisian flair with its decor, consisting of vintage plush couches and decorative rugs. There was also upbeat French music playing. I was there to get some work done and the WiFi as pretty reliable and fast, which was very appreciated. I would recommend The Outdoors Coffee as a great coffee shop to work, but the only thing missing at the moment are power outlets to plug in your laptop. But Gilles did tell me that they’re getting some installed soon. He did offer to help move my table to an outlet on the building’s wall if my battery was dying. This is an owner that’s willing to go above and beyond!
The Outdoors Coffee is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Since they share their space with La Boheme, they close early so that the restaurant can start setting up for dinner. I recommend it if you live in WeHo for a great morning spot to start your day. It’s also a nice place to do some work. You can even book private areas for group meetings, an option if you’re tired of virtual meetings!
