Need a place to get work done and for a delicious cup of coffee? Look no further than Alana’s Coffee Roasters. Located in Mar Vista, Alana’s Coffee Roasters is a cute coffee shop with an aesthetically pleasing outdoor space and super homey vibes. In my blog piece on Coffee Connection, I mentioned how I’m more productive working outside of home. But due to COVID-19, finding coffee shops with both an outdoor area and a quiet environment has been hard, so whenever I discover one, it feels like uncovering a gem.
Alana’s Coffee Roasters is a community-focused shop offering high quality coffee. It serves small batch beans sourced from different coffee farmers around the world and roasts them daily, in-house. Alana’s also makes its own syrups, its powders are low in sugar, and it only uses the best milk or milk alternatives. Its staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly, so they can help pick out the right drink for you.
Alana’s Coffee Roasters wants to be an inclusive space for people to work and hang out. This is highlighted by its outdoor patio, which is one the best decorated outdoor spaces I’ve seen for a coffee shop. The shaded patio features unique furniture, lots of green plants, and decorative string lights. What really makes this patio unique is the RV trailer labeled with an “Office” sign situated in the back of the space. Everything, when put together, gives Alana’s a very cozy feel, creating a comfortable work environment.
There were 8-10 individual tables plus 4 long communal tables where small groups can sit (be sure to follow social distancing guidelines!). Everyone there during my visit was mainly working rather than socializing, so it was pretty quiet. There are some outlets available around the patio, but not every table has them. The music was also very chill. Overall, Alana’s Coffee Roasters is one of my favorite coffee shops in LA!

Deeelizious tips
- It might be hard to find a seat in their patio during the weekdays. If this is the case, try the front of the shop where they have a few long tables there as well
- Since they are following social distancing guidelines, they only allow one party at a time to enter the shop to order so you will see a line going out the door. The line moves at a pretty moderate pace
- Prices for cafe beverages range from $3-$6
- Free Wi-Fi is available and is pretty fast and stable!
- There is only one restroom
