If you’re anything like me, then you probably get your best work accomplished at coffee shops. I get easily distracted when trying to work at home, so securing a table and a nice cup of coffee at a peaceful shop can really help me focus. Did you know that it has been scientifically proven that a change in scenery can actually help boost your creativity and productivity? Research states that being surrounded by focused and motivated people, while having moderate background noise and unlimited access to caffeine can really enhance your concentration and overall performance.
With COVID-19 restrictions in place limiting indoor gatherings and business operations, I’ve had a challenging time finding a solid coffee shop with an outdoor space that can inspire a productive state of mind. But recently, I came around a hidden gem in the Mar Vista area of West Los Angeles called Coffee Connection.
Since it inherited an old Italian restaurant, Coffee Connection looks more classic than a typical coffee shop. It has a shady courtyard covered by a tree canopy, making it a quiet escape from the busy world outside.
There are a number of tables available and outlets along the wall just in case you need to charge your laptop. Most people who came to Coffee Connection seemed really focused, which helped establish a desirable working and studying environment as there were no loud conversations. This made the ambient sounds from the waterfall that was on the wall stand out.
Coffee Connection is also unique in that it’s also a non-profit. It aims to keep its coffee prices affordable while producing a number of charity events for the local LA community. You’ll be supporting a great cause with every cup you drink!
Address: 3838 S Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066
Hours of operation: Mon-Sat: 7 AM-7 PM, Sun: Closed
Parking: Free parking at their own personal lot across the street from the coffee shop, as well as metered street parking and parking in the residential neighborhood nearby.
- Coffee Connection provides a 15% discount on all food and beverages for students and teachers with a valid ID! Maybe this is why there were many students at the shop when I was there…
- The restroom is spacious, clean, and has more than one stall. You can ask the staff for the code.
- Wi-Fi is available for free for customers, but was a bit slow and occasionally spotty in my opinion. It probably won’t be ideal for uploading files or doing video calls.
